Adoption

Our adoption process is fairly simple process designed to ensure a great match for both you and the dog. Typically, the process begins with a straightforward application where you'll provide details about your home, lifestyle, and experience with pets. This helps us understand your environment and ensure it's suitable for a bulldog's needs. After the application, a home check is usually conducted to confirm that your space is safe and secure. Once approved, the rescue will work with you to find the right bulldog that matches your preferences and fits well with your family, making the journey to adoption smooth and exciting.

APPLY

Please complete an application on our website, and we will respond to you as soon as possible.  We ask for a donation of $15 for reviewing your application payable on Paypal or Venmo.

REVIEW

Your application will be reviewed.  Based on your answers on the application we will match you with a bulldog that we feel will do well joining your family. You will be contacted via email or phone to set up a convenient time to conduct a home check with you and your family members living with the dog.

Unfortunately, not all applications will move forward.  Should we feel we don't have a match between your family and a bulldog we will keep your application on file for other suitable bulldog matches.

HOME CHECK

A home check is an important step to ensure that the environment is safe and suitable for your new bulldog. Here are some of the key aspects typically covered during a home check:

1. Yard and Outdoor Space:

Fencing: Is the yard securely fenced? Check for any gaps or low areas where a dog might escape.

Gates: Are the gates securely latched and high enough to prevent a dog from jumping over?

Size of Yard: Depending on the dog’s size and energy level, ensure the outdoor space is adequate for exercise.

2. Indoor Environment:

Living Spaces: Are the living spaces dog-friendly? Look for anything harmful like small objects, electrical cords, or toxic plants.

Sleeping Area: Is there a designated area for the dog to sleep that is comfortable and safe?

Stairs/Windows: Make sure there are no risks of falls from high places or easy escape routes through windows.

3. General Safety:

Hazardous Substances: Check if harmful substances like cleaning supplies, medications, or chemicals are kept out of reach.

Toys and Enrichment: Are there toys or enrichment activities to keep the dog mentally and physically stimulated?

Other Pets: If there are other pets in the house, make sure they are well-behaved and that their interactions with the new dog will be supervised.

4. Family Dynamics:

Children and Adults: Ensure all members of the household are on board with the adoption and know how to safely interact with the dog.

Work and Schedule: Assess the potential adopter's routine and whether someone will be available to care for and walk the dog regularly.

5. Emergency Preparedness:

Veterinarian: Confirm they have a vet lined up for regular check-ups and emergencies.

Escape Plan: Are there procedures in place to prevent the dog from escaping, such as gates at doors or secure leashes when taking them out?

The home check is not just for the safety of the dog but also to ensure the potential adopters are ready to provide a forever home.  It also  helps us to determine what dog will be a good fit for your home.

FIND YOUR PUP

Once your application has been approved we will reach out to our foster families with your information, and find a bulldog who best suits your family.  Please keep in mind that we rarely get puppies.  When we have a bulldog match we will give you a brief bio provided by our foster.  If you're interested we will coordinate a time and meeting place with the bulldog.  It is important to be patient during this process as we want to ensure the best match possible.
